tight quarters

this week will be quite interesting for the husband & i. we are having wood floors installed in half of our house this week & because of that the only rooms we have access to is our bedroom & kitchen. i love the thought of spending every waking moment in my bed! sleeping, eating watching movies, reading...the list can go on, but i think after this week i think i'm going to want out of my bedroom. i did however enjoy eating lunch today in bed while watching the hills from the beginning on netflix.

currently our entire house is in our garage. if it's not in there, it's in our dining room or bedroom. i feel like i'm a hoarder & it's driving my crazy! i cannot stand the clutter.

here's an idea of what our house looks like at the moment.

i didn't put any up of the hallway or the 2 bedrooms, but it basically looks the same.

hopefully the week will go by fast! i just keep telling myself "the floors will be beautiful & totally worth it!"

one of steven & i's favorite thing to do is travel. the thought of being someplace else & seeing everything that place has to offer excites me! we had the chance to go to seattle the past week, a place where we have always wanted to go. when people asked where we were going & we said seattle, a lot of responses were "you know it rains there all day everyday right?" people tend to forget i love the rain, so this is the perfect vacation for me.

we ended up going with another couple who had actually been there on their honeymoon. this was very helpful since they already knew their way around the city. i did however have a few fears about this trip.

#1 - i hate seafood. seattle is known for it's amazing seafood because they catch everything right there! our first place to eat was called ivar's & of course it was a seafood place. i was hoping the menu would have some sort of chicken plate, but that was a negative. so...i had to brave it. i order fish & chips & who would have known, i loved it!!!! now i don't consider myself a lover a seafood just yet, but this was a baby step.

#2- i hate elevators & heights. seattle is also know for the space needle & does anyone know how you get to the very top? yup, an elevator & not just any elevator. this elevator is on the outside of the space needle so you can see outside while you're going up...yippee. i did conquer this fear not once, but twice.

one good thing about seattle - coffee on every corner! i felt like i was in heaven! everywhere we looked there was either a starbucks or another coffee house. one of our first stops of course had to be the original starbucks. i couldn't believe how small it was!
another place i feel in love with was the market. fresh veggies, fruit & all sorts of food everywhere! my only wish i that okc had something like this! the picture on the right is where they throw the fish. i just wish i could have caught it on video.

i cannot wait to go back! in all the places steven & i have been, i could seriously see us living there - minus the earthquakes & the family living here in oklahoma! we had a great time with amazing friends & hopefully we can make more trips together soon!

highs & lows

it's amazing to me how one day the weather can be beautiful, a high of 70 degrees & light wind, then the next day is rainy & cold. don't get me wrong, i love the cold rainy weather. i love curling up in a blanket with the fireplace or candles going, but at this point in the year i would just love to be outside. last saturday we went out & bought bikes and we have only ridden them once! ever since then the weather has been cold & windy & not the perfect biking weather.

i love spring for the weather, but i also love it because i get in the mood to do spring cleaning. i know you probably think i'm crazy, but i love cleaning closets out and organizing my house. my poor husband thinks i've lost my mind, but if it were up to him we would keep everything! i love the thought of getting rid of clutter & junk we don't need & putting things in containers & sorting through things just excites me! being organized just calms me. if only we had a container store in okc, my life would be complete.

snowed in

it's been a lazy day at the jeffrey house! blizzard 2011 hit us this morning & we are officially snowed in! i really love the snow. i love that it gives me an excuse to do nothing & i can't feel guilty about it. i did get a little bit of laundry done so the whole day wasn't a waste!

most of our morning was laying in bed watching the constant coverage of the weather. i know they kept saying the same thing, but we just couldn't turn it off! i'm so glad neither one of us had to go to work! after our busy weekend, we needed a day of nothing together.

we did get a little adventurous today. we wanted to see what happens when your throw boiling water in the air in 8 degree weather.

i really didn't think anything would happen, so you can tell by my reaction i was sort of surprised!

steven did venture out a bit & took some pictures around the house. i'm glad he did instead of me!

i just found out i don't have to go into work until noon tomorrow, but if it's still bad we're not going in at all. steven's not sure if he's going into work tomorrow or not. we're not even sure if we can get our cars out of the garage! i'm hoping for a repeat of today!

whirlwind weekend

i hate how fast the weekend always goes! before i know it, it's sunday night & everything just starts back over.

my poor husband worked so hard this weekend. thursday night he had a rehearsal for a recital at the opry, friday night was the recital, saturday rehearsal for the show saturday night, sunday church that morning, & then went to work sunday afternoon & didn't get home until 11pm. i'm so blessed to have a husband that works so hard to provide for our family.

tonight the BLIZZARD 2011 (imagine that in an intense movie announcer voice) moves in. our house if full of food, all sweatpants are clean & thank god for netflix! i have a feeling steven & i will do nothing productive tomorrow & i'm completely ok with that!

big picture

i think it's amazing how god sees the big picture in life. he sees every situation years before it will happen. he sees the good & bad. he knows what he is doing and it's our job just to trust him & wait to see what he has up his sleeve. every circumstance it worth all the pain & suffering because he has everything under control. you may not understand why things happen for months or even years, but he has a reason.

he is worth it all! he has seen us through everything. even though i didn't understand why things were happening the way they were, he did! he understood! he never allowed us to go without. all the worry & stress were worth it.

I don't understand Your ways
Oh but I will give You my song
Give You all of my praise
You hold on to all my pain
With it You are pulling me closer
And pulling me into Your ways

Now around every corner
And up every mountain
I'm not looking for crowns
Or the water from fountains
I'm desperate in seeking, frantic believing
That the sight of Your face
Is all that I need
I will say to You

It's gonna be worth it
It's gonna be worth it
It's gonna be worth it all
I believe this
It's gonna be worth it
It's gonna be worth it
It's gonna be worth it all
I believe this

You're gonna be worth it
You're gonna be worth it
You're gonna be worth it all
I believe this
You're gonna be worth it
You're gonna be worth it
You're gonna be worth it all
I believe this

i'm a little bit country....and maybe so is he

the past few weekends for the husband & i have been pretty lazy. a few saturdays ago we didn't even get dressed until 4pm. neither one of us went outside the whole day. i know it's laziness, but it was greatness at the same time. no where to be, no one to see. just us being together, enjoying each other, & being refreshed for whatever the next week may hold.

steven has started singing at the opry in okc on saturday nights, so it's hard for us to plan anything when he has to be at rehearsal by 3pm. if we did anything that morning it would require us to actually get up early on a saturday and who wants that? since he's been singing at the opry i think he is falling in lov
e with country music. he sent me this picture last weekend.

being a country girl at heart, i have to admit i got really excited when he sent me this. i was finally hoping that my george strait fantasies were going to come true. (minus the wranglers) he has been listening to country music everywhere. in the house, in our cars, & i think he now has some on his phone. on friday night he was the one who wanted to go see the movie country strong & he loved it! i think i'm gonna like this new gig of his.

new everything

so it's been almost 2 years since i have written anything. i have made it my new years resolution to blog more & put my thoughts on "paper." this one maybe a little long, so i'm apologizing in advance.

a lot has happened to the jeffrey family since my last update. a year ago, we thought our world was crashing in on us. steven quit his job and became unemployed. i never thought we would have to go through the stress of one of us becoming unemployed. i remember the feeling of just hopelessness thinking that he would never find a job like he had. the pay, benefits, everything about it. now i'm not saying that my husband isn't qualified enough to find a job. who wouldn't want to hire him?! he's great!

after getting over the feelings of being hurt by not only his employer, but people we have considered friends, we had to move on. of course through all of this, god knew exactly what he was doing. of course my first concern were finances. how were we going to afford anything?! through steven's 1 month of unemployment (which is a blessing in itself) we never went without a paycheck. god provided everything for us.

during that month, steven finally got to relax. no checking emails, no working into the wee hours of the night, & no phones calls from employees or employers. in 3 years i had never seen him this happy. it was like i could see pressure & stress disappear from his body. even our marriage was stronger. it was almost like we were newlyweds again. (gross, i know)

god's timing amazes me. after only 1 month of being unemployed, we were blessed to find out that steven got a job at a the music group studio in edmond. he had done some work for them in the past & it had been talked about for him to work there full time, but the timing never worked out. as i said before, god's timing amazes me. when talking to Tmg before, their timeline looked like they would bring steven on in june or as late as august. when steven met with Tmg in february they offered him a job. i couldn't believe it! all the stress & worry i went through all month long was for nothing. god provided...again.

steven has been with Tmg now for almost a year and he couldn't be more happier. he works for amazing people. people that not only care about him, but care about us. i don't believe they will know what they did for our family. we are excited for the future of Tmg. excited to see where it will take us next.

throughout this whole year i was reminded of god's faithfulness. not once did he leave us. not one did he turn his back. he was there at our lowest point. comforting us & letting us know that he had everything under control. he provided everything we needed.

All of my life
In EVERY season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

update

i really didn't think it had been that long since i've blogged. i remember now why i sometimes hate having a blog....i always forget to update it.

not a lot has been going on with us. as you read before, we got a new puppy. she is one smart pup. we've only had her for about a month and she is already housebroken. she has had a few accidents, but those are mainly our fault for not letting her out. i'm so glad i don't have to worry about dog pee on my carpet anymore. it's a great feeling!

macy is now our world. i can't imagine what will happen when we have kids. hopefully macy will understand that she will not be the center of attention anymore.

we had a bit of a bump in the road last week. for those of you who know, steven and i have been trying to get pregnant for a while. we've been trying since june and we just haven't had any luck. i went to the doctor on wednesday because of irregularity. they think they have figured out why i don't have an regular period anymore and because of that i'm not getting pregnant. it's not a major issure and it is one that can be fixed with no surgery or anything major...PTL. this was a little upsetting to me. i know god has everything under control, but it's still hard to want something so bad and then someone tells you it might not happen as soon as you would like.

maybe this is a way that god is telling us, "hey, not right now." i know he has perfect timing. i know he sees situations that are in the future that we can't see. maybe we are suppose to do other things before we have to focus entirely on someone else. i do want this in gods timing...i really do! i want what he has set aside for me! he knows my needs, desires, and wants. so here i am god...completely and entirely trusting you.

what a week....

this past week has just been a whirlwind for steven and i. if you read my last post, you saw we got mac, our precious puppy. we took him to the groomers last sunday and when we brought him home, we noticed he was having trouble seeing. he kept bumping into walls and was walking cautiously. we took him to the vet that night and they confirmed he couldn't see. they kept him over night, talked to them the next morning. mac was normal, except he just couldn't see. as the week went on and spending almost every night at the vet, mac just kept getting worse. the doctors took tests and said they thought it was a liver shunt. i guess it's very common in yorkies. late saturday night we could tell he was just in pain. he hadn't been himself in the past 3 days. he wasn't playful at all, wouldn't eat or drink. we had to feed with with a syrnge. they kept him again saturday night. called the vet on sunday morning after church and they said he didn't get any better through the night. steven and i had a hard decision to make. there was a surgery possible for mac, but of course very expensive and they weren't sure he was strong enough to survive it. so...sunday morning we made the decision to have him put down. we knew it was best for him, we knew he was in pain.

i never thought i would be that person to be so attached to a dog to even consider a surgery. i've been around dogs my entire life, but i've never had to put a dog down that was only 8 weeks old. so far, this is the hardest thing i've ever had to do.

we had already planned on going out to my parents that day anyway, so we left for their house after the vet. on the way out, my mom calls me and said she had called friends or ours wanted to bless us with a new puppy.

meet macy...

now by no means will she ever replace mac! but i am glad we have her. i think a lot of people were surprise by how fast we got a new puppy, but honestly... i don't think i could have come home and not have a dog here. that just gives me more time to to think about the past week, and i don't want to think about it. steven is absolutely in love with her. giving in everytime she whines, especially at night. i wake up to find her in our bed because of steven....i wonder if he's gonna be a push over like this when we have kids....

Lazy Holi- Days

I love days of sleeping in, staying in sweats all day, no make up, no fixed hair, and spending all day with the husband.

We're both off work for the rest of the week and it's been so relaxing so far.  Hopefully, we still feel relaxed by the end of the week.  We have watched all of the holiday favorites-

We'll have our Christmas tomorrow morning.  I just know Steven is going to wake me up at 7 and want to open presents...haha.  He has already tried to convince to open presents tonight, but I said no.  After our Christmas, we will officially start traveling west for the holidays.  The only part of the holidays I don't enjoy.

We had my extended family Christmas last night.  Always a fun time...listening what has happened over the year.  My family filling me in on all the gossip of my hometown.   Who's married to who, who is getting divorced, who's prego, who's in jail and anything else they can think of.  Last night was especially sort of cool.  My cousin found old Christmas videos of when we were all younger.  We starting watching Christmas '85, which was my first Christmas and the first Christmas without my grandpappy.  From then went to Christmas 92 and then to 96.  96 had me singing in front of the entire family...I never knew I was such a ham in front of the camera, my how things have changed...haha.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas!!  Make it last as long as possible!

Christmas is here!

It is officially Christmas in the Jeffrey household.  Lights are up outside, the tree is up with presents underneath and the house is decorated.  I'm almost done Christmas shopping.  Still a few more things to get, but basically I'm done.  Here's a picture of the tree and the fireplace...

oh...and a year ago this weekend, we were moving into our new beautiful home.  I can't believe it's been a year already!!

Break please...

It was a long weekend...I'm glad it's over.

Got more Christmas shopping done on Friday.  I think I only have a few more things to get and then I'm done.  I've done really good this year with getting it done early and not spending too much at once.

I finally got to see the husband on Saturday for a little bit.  We did a little shopping for ourselves  and then after that Steven went back to work.  He's been working a lot lately.  I'm hoping it will slow down soon.  I hate seeing him working so much.  I know he is tired, not only physically, but I think spiritually too.  I pray that God gives him strength and patience everyday.   I hate spending the evenings by myself.  I feel like we haven't been able to talk or spend time with each other the past couple weeks, but like I said, hopefully his workload will decrease soon.  I don't know how much longer I can take of not seeing my husband.

Last night was the pie auction at our church.  I'm so glad it's finally over.  I was so afraid I didn't get enough food and that there wasn't going to be a lot of pies, but everything came together and it was great! Plenty of food and 4 tables full of pies to auction off.  We raised over 8,000 dollars for missions!!  PTL!!!

We have a pretty busy holiday week.  We have to see Steven's family on Thursday, stay the night at my parents Thursday night and have thanksgiving with my family on Friday.  Saturday is the day my fall decorations come down and the Christmas decorations go up!  I'm so excited!  Last year we rushed to get the house decorated because we had moved into our house in December.  This year I think we can enjoy it more.

I hope everyone has a great holiday!!  Don't eat too much!!

Lonely Weekend

The weekend has been uneventful so far.  Steven is gone this weekend which has left me alone by myself.  He went to Kansas City to help one of our friends move.  That whole thing is a bad situation, but that's a whole other story that I'm not getting into.

So far this weekend I have cleaned my house, baked cookies, gave myself a mani and pedi, and have watched all of my shows off of the dvr.  It was a great "girl"movie day.  I woke up to find that Steel Magnolias ( which is my all time favorite movie) was on this morning followed by other great movies that Steven would not watch me me...haha.

I love the time by myself, but after a while I really start to miss Steven.  I slept horrible last night without me.  I lined pillows up on his side of the bed to make it feel like he was there, but it didn't help much.

That's about it for my weekend.  I figure the sooner I get to sleep, the sooner I get to see Steven.  His flight lands at 11:30 tomorrow morning.  Hopefully it gets here soon.

Oh and we are going to see Coldplay tomorrow night....be jealous...haha.

What a relaxing evening....just enjoyed an amazing cup of hot chocolate (made by the hubby) while sitting next to our fireplace.  I love the cold weather.  I love wearing layers of clothes and wrapping up in blankets.

We had a great weekend.  We got to keep our nephew for the weekend and spoil him...as always.  We love keeping him, gives us practice for when we have our own.  We got to show him off at church the next day and I think everyone thought he was cute.  We got to visit our old church Sunday night.  It was great to see everyone.  It's always a good feeling to walk into a room and people rush to say hi to you.  We miss everyone so much at Life Fellowship.  They are like our family.  We have so many memories there with everyone.

I want to decorate for Christmas.  I had Steven agree to decorate the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  Last year I rushed to decorate the house because we moved in the first weekend of December, so this year I want to enjoy it.

one day at a time

I'm loving this weather.  I love being layered up in clothes and wrapped up in blankets. Watched a little Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown tonight.  Brings back a lot of memories...

This past few weeks have been good.  I'm feeling more comfortable at work.  Getting better using photoshop (thanks to the hubby) and basically getting more confident.  Been a little busy at work and I think it's gonna get busier.  We've got 6 events in
the next 2 months, of course the 2 busiest months of the year because of  the holidays.  I love this kind of busy though.  I love planning and organizing and making sure everything is ready.  It might sound weird, but I miss the feeling of be
ing a little stressed.

I think these next couple months are going to be great.  We have a lot of cool stuff that i
s happening.  We got all of our credit cards paid off this month...PTL!  But then I remember that I have to start Christmas shopping....so much for saving money...haha

OH...I have 1 year old pictures of the nephew, this kid holds my heart....

Here I Go

It happened...I got sucked into having a blog.  I used to have one, but I think I have missed putting my thoughts down and sometimes venting so I'm gonna try this whole thing again.

I'm loving the weather now.  Just waiting for it to get colder, but it's coming...I can feel it.  The colder weather brings back so many memories.  This is the first fall season that Steven and I will spend in our new house.   I've thought about our old house lately.  Remembering the smell, the feel of the wood floors, the sound of the space heater coming on in the middle of the night, spending hours on our front porch wrapped up in blankets with friends while we drink pots of coffee trying to study, but instead just talking and finding better things to do than study.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE our new home, but our old house has so many memories of our first 4 years of marriage.

Even though I miss my old "life", I know that God has many new things planned for Steven and me.  He has already given us a new home for new memories, new friends that are just as amazing as old ones, and most importantly He has given us an amazing church with amazing people.  Yes, we miss our old church and I never thought we would find a church just as great as Weatherford Life Fellowship, but The Bridge runs a close 2nd.

I'm excited to see what God has for us in the next few months.  I'm re-learning that He has everything under control and the right timing for everything in our lives.
